Simon Aldred is a guitarist, singer and Ivor Novello Award-winning songwriter, best known by his recording name Cherry Ghost for songs such as ‘People Help The People’. As well as his own successful career, Simon has collaborated with a host of fellow artists including Sam Smith, Birdy, Kwabs, Becky Hill, Rae Morris and Lianne La Havas.
We’re delighted to welcome him to No.6, at the invitation of Maxine Peake. He’ll be appearing on Peaky’s Parlour in the Gatehouse on Sunday afternoon, but also making a special appearance on the Piazza on Sunday evening reprising some of the songs from the debut Cherry Ghost album, to mark the 10th anniversary of its release, performing with the No. 6 Ensemble. Teaming up with our Composer-in-Residence Joe Duddell, Simon will be revisiting and reimagining his incredible back catalogue, accompanied by string quartet, harp, bass clarinet, horn and vibraphone. Created especially for Festival No. 6 this one-off collaboration promises to be one of the highlights of the festival.
